poorest country, Burundi. Treat yourself or a loved one to a beautiful hand-knitted hat in
alpaca yarn and at the same time lift families out of hunger. When they knit, they help themselves. Africa can and wants to help itself – they just need customers!

Out of poverty

Sometimes it doesn’t take much to shake up the poverty trap. We’ve created a product that makes it easy for you to make a difference.
Every time you buy one of Coffee Beanie’s delicious wool products, you ensure the survival of a hard-working African family trying to make a living as coffee farmers. But in some of the world’s poorest countries with the harshest conditions, it’s an uphill battle that requires our help.

From emergency aid to self-help

Coffee Beanies celebrates the principle of work as the solution. Instead of emergency aid, we must equip for self-help.

That’s why we train female African coffee farmers to hand-knit high-quality, sustainable wool hats. To ensure a long-term income for the knitters, we’ve teamed up with talented designers to offer Danes slow-fashion hats and long-lasting knitwear.

Sustainable yarn quality

We use high quality merino and alpaca wool and quality check all hats before they are shipped to you. The wool is biodegradable and the small amount of polyamide is recycled.
Materials are carefully selected with a carbon-neutral future in mind. We are a slowfashion brand: higher quality, timeless designs and less production. We hope to inspire budding new manufacturers in Africa to base their future on sustainable principles and skip the pollution era.
